Jotham

   1) (fl. c. 12th cent BCE)
   Israelite, youngest son of Gideon. He was the sole survivor of Abimelech's massacre in which all his brothers died (Judges 9). He escaped to Mount Gerizim where he denounced the Shechemites for accepting Abimelech as king (Judges 9:8-15).
   2) (fl. 8th cent, BCE)
   King of Judah (c.742-735 BCE), son of Uzziah. He defeated the Ammonites in battle (II Chronicles 27:5), and during his reign the country enjoyed considerable prosperity. He made repairs and additions to buildings in the Temple area in Jerusalem (II Chronicles 27:3; II Kings 15:35).
